The concept is that as more fibrosis and scarring occur, the higher the liver stiffness reading will be. This reading may be used to:- Liver Cirrhosis, Ascites, Cancer

Esophageal, Biliary and Pancreatic Stent Placement (SEMS/Metal Stent)

Esophageal stenting is a procedure used to place a stent, which is a flexible mesh tube placed through the constricted area of your esophagus. The work of a stent is to gently expand and open the narrowed area of the esophagus to make swallowing foods easier. The esophageal stenting procedure usually requires both endoscopic and fluoroscopic guidances. Indications for esophageal stenting can be a variety of problems, most commonly malignant dysphagia. It is also needed in the case of treatment of esophageal fistulas, leaks and perforations

ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

Patients with obstruction of Common Bile Duct or Pancreatic Duct due to stone, mass or swelling of surrounding structure (inflammation) commonly have jaundice and abdominal pain. For relief of this obstruction ERCP is a procedure in which we perform therapeutic interventions by using a “ Side-view Endoscope”. Removal of stones, relief from biliary infection and obstruction can be achieved and a stent in CBD and/or PD can be placed in same procedure. This procedure avoids difficult and complicated surgery and helps patient to achieve good health with minimal morbidity. Dr Aashish Patil, is well experienced in ERCP.

Endoscopic Variceal Ligation (EVL)

Also called as endoscopic band ligation is a therapeutic method to treat immediate variceal bleeding. EVL treatment in Jalgaon has been evident to be more viable than the control of no treatment in preventing a first variceal bleed. Elastic bands are utilized to treat the enlarged veins in the esophagus during the procedure. These uncommon veins are developed in the throat and are formed into thin walls with high blood pressure. If untreated, the veins may breakdown and lead to severe bleeding. Progressions in the endoscopic-variceal-ligation method has elicited its standard to treat the patients with esophageal varices. Make an appointment for EVL treatment in Jalgaon to consult Dr. Aashish Patil’s Prism Gastro Hospital

Esophageal Band Ligation

Band ligation is performed during an upper endoscopy. Patient will lie on his/her left side and receive sedation through an IV line to relax which will make patient feel drowsy. A mouth guard will be placed to protect patient teeth and gums. Patient throat may also be numbed with a spray to calm the gag reflex. Our doctor will insert the endoscope through mouth and into esophagus. The doctor will insert a special instrument through the scope to tie off the varices with tiny elastic bands. This cuts off the blood flow and prevents the varices from bleeding or stops any bleeding that may be occurring. Band ligation can be performed on as many veins as necessary and may be repeated every 4 weeks until the varices have stopped bleeding. After the bleeding is controlled, the doctor may prescribe medications to reduce blood pressure in the portal vein and prevent bleeding from starting again. An upper endoscopy should be repeated every 6 to 12 months to ensure no varices have reoccurred.

Foreign Body /Coin/ Pin Removal by Endoscopy

The majority of foreign body ingestions happen in youngsters between the ages of a six months and three years. Clinical administration emphasis on distinguishing and treating the conditions in danger for risk which depend on the area and type of foreign body.

This procedure does not involve any surgery, but a gastroscope or an optic fiber charge coupled device camera shaped as a long tube is inserted through the mouth into the throat and stomach to trace the foreign bodies, controlling them, and eliminating them while ensuring the throat and windpipe are not harmed.

Some of the common ingested objects incorporate coins, toys, buttons, batteries, magnets, pins, screws, meat bolus, marbles etc. Aside from objects, enormous food pieces can stall out in the throat and expect endoscopy to eliminate the food particles. Now and again, this can be troublesome or dangerous
